You may have seen a recent article in the local Newshopper written by my cousin Paul Daniels asking people to sign an e-petition calling on the government to provide heart -screening programmes. This follows from the shocking and sad death of his 15 year old son from an undiagnosed heart condition whilst playing football.
We have since learned that ON AVERAGE 12 YOUNG PEOPLE DIE EVERY WEEK FROM UNDIAGNOSED HEART CONDITIONS and that in many cases this could have been prevented by screening and early treatment and or lifestyle changes. In the UK, the charity CRY strives to raise money to provide screening whilst in other countries such as Italy, screening has been mandatory for the last 10 years.
Please give your support by signing the e-petition at epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petition/31819 and help protect your young friends and family. Thank you.
Angie won her age group race in the Somme 10k, receiving a big cup and a jack pot prize of 30 Euros. They had an Olympic style podium with three different heights but she could not get onto the middle winner's podium as she is so little and had to be pushed up.
